Yuba County Office of Education Web Site Redesign and Implementation

Marysville, CA – Yuba County Office of Education, which serves six school districts, has selected School Web Services, Inc. to design and implement a new version of their web site, scheduled to launch in March 2008.

Along with a redesign, the Yuba County Office of Education web site will be built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Ric Teagarden, Yuba County Superintendent of Schools , was looking for a solution that would allow for staff to “update pages independently of tech support,” an issue that many school districts face. With the installation of SharePoint, teachers and staff will receive training on the system and then be able to update and create pages at their own convenience.

Brian McDonald, Director of Technology Services at Yuba County Office of Education, selected School Web Services after receiving verification that they were approved to use funds from the Microsoft Voucher settlement. “We made the decision to utilize funding provided by the K12 Voucher Program for both the Microsoft SharePoint license and School Web Services SharePoint Services, including a custom Web site design . We chose School Web Services as our provider after receiving verification from the programs Settlement Claims Administrator that they are an approved provider of services. That made our decision an easy one,” says Brian. “The Yuba County Office of Education is pushing forward into the design phase of our site build. Working with Jon Cornelison and the School Web Services staff has been a great experience and we are looking forward to working with them now and in the future.”

School Web Services, Inc. specializes in SharePoint implementation and Web site design and branding, Content Management System consulting, and web site hosting for K-12, School District, Community College, and Government Web sites.

Santa Monica College – Web Site Launches with New Design

SMC launches their new site with a content management system that will allow teachers to make their own updates.

Santa Monica, CA – After months of careful planning, Santa Monica College is pleased to announce the launch of their redesigned website, www.smc.edu.

The new web site, built by School Web Services, Inc., is designed upon a custom web solution that is Section 508 compliant for K-12, District and Community Colleges, and includes a structure that will allow for easier navigation and improve the user experience. The redesigned layout and content management system offers up a clean look and feel while providing separate channels for a number of different audiences: faculty and staff now have the ability to update course information; students can easily find class notes and campus information; and, most importantly, new and incoming students now have a place to find information regarding SMC, courses and registration.

The Marketing staff at Santa Monica College intends to eventually use the new web site as the main channel for attracting new students. With the launch of the new site, prime real estate has been blocked out on the homepage for banner advertisements, upcoming events and news information, and links that lead directly to the most requested information by incoming students.

About Santa Monica College: Santa Monica College - a two-year community college accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges – opened in 1929 with just 153 students. It has now grown to a thriving campus with approximately 30,000 students and offerings in more than 80 fields of study.
